In Depth Guide for Weapon Choices

short forms you might encounter:
itc = In This Case
HP = Health Points/Pool
MP = Mana Points/ Pool
Dmg = Damage
AS = Attack Speed
skillset = The Path you chose in the Skill Tree
Ex = example

I decided to share my gaming experience with new commers. This guide is supposed to help you pick a better weapon for your Skill-Tree. There will also be an entire list with every weapon prefix bonus.

As you probably noticed, in Spellforce weapons have somewhat of a random name (ex: Ancient Knife Of The Hunt). Well, the prefix of the name (itc "Ancient") is actualy a small bonus to the item base stats. Here is the list of every prefix bonus currently existing in the game:

And there you have it. Now, regarding your skillset... Before anything, let me categorize some spells for better understanding.

-The spells that you pay the mana cost, damages/heals and then enters cooldown we will call them Plain. Ex: Flash, Mend, Benefactions, Rock Projectile...

-The spells that you pay the mana cost and have an additional effect even after they enter cooldown, we will call EOT (Effect Over Time). Ex: Fireball, Firestorm, Corrosive Cloud, Steadfast...

-Spells that buff your target/s attack damage by a certain and specific amount will be addressed as Flat Buff. Ex: Rage, Battlecry, Berserk, Steady Aim...

-Spells that buff your target/s attack damage by a generic amount will be addressed as Generic Buff. Ex: Mighty Blow, Cleave, Slash, Poison Stinger, Armor Breaker...

You don't really need to memorise those things. I wrote them to make it easier for me to explain you the full potential of some spells.
Considering you cast an EOT (itc Fireball). You pay the mana cost,you damage your target and the spell goes in cooldown. But in addition to that,your target will be set aflame and be damaged for an additional amount over time. This is a mana effective spell,as it has an effect that disregards it's cooldown. If your hero has a lot of EOTs then he doesen't need a huge MP because the spell effect goes on even after the mana cost is paid.
Also,it happens that every buff in the game (besides Mighty Blow) has a effect prolonged for an extended amount of time. (itc Rage) As you may know, Rage increases the attack damage on melee basic attacks by a flat amount. This flat amount CANNOT be increased by nothing. Sad. But, what you could do, to increase the spell effectivity is to get an item with an increased value of attack speed. The more attacks you land, the more times the flat damage amount will be dealt to your enemy. This also doesn't require a huge MP. You pay the mana price and before the buff vanishes, you already regenerated most of your mana cost. This goes for every EOT spell in the game that has an additional effect AFTER the cooldown started.

Lastly, let's say I want to build my adventurer (at level 24) tanky but with a 2-handed axe. But instead of "Berserk" I take "Ironwill". However, I still want him to have at least 1 offensive spell that helps me clear threats like Necromancers or Druids fast. I will of course give him Mighty Blow. Now, before you laugh your pants off, allow me to introduce you to the wonders of "Mighty Blow". If I equip my Adventurer with a 2-handed axe that has a huge base damage and ignore any other bonus like AS or HP,MP, I will still be able to deal a tonnage of damage.
Chaos Axe (base) is the 2-handed axe with the biggest damage amount. If it's Spellfired, at level 24 it will deal 1431 base damage on hit. If we add the bonus from "Mighty Blow" which is 200% bonus base attack damage, it will deal 1431+2862=4293 damage. On a single spell by a companion.

This is all I can afford to say by now. Hope you learned something, anything at all, new that might help you through the game or improved your general gamer knowledge. If you manage to read everything until here, then you deserve the proud applause from even the most cheerless person. I hugely thank you for taking your time for my humble post. Hope something good happens to you tomorrow
