Exclamation Problems running SpellForce? Please read!

Use our Online Support Form

Please include following information in the email about your computer system:
  • Name of the game that is causing problems.
  • Do you have SpellForce patch v1.11 installed? Download here.
  • Describe your problem as best as you can. If you get an error message, please include it.
  • Direct X diagnose. To create the DxDiag.txt, please do the following:
    a) Run DXDIAG.EXE from your Start menu (click Start, Run... then type "dxdiag" and hit Enter)
    b) Click the "Save all Information" button, located at the bottom of the program window
    c) Save the file as "dxdiag.txt"
    d) Attach the file "dxdiag.txt" to the email.
  • Systeminfo. To create the MSInfo32.txt, please do the following:
    a) Run MSINFO32.EXE from your Start menu (click Start, Run... then type "msinfo32" and hit Enter)
    b) Click the "Export to txt" button.
    c) Export the file as "Msinfo32.txt" (do not save it as an system-nfo file).
    d) Attach the file "Msinfo32.txt" to the email.

    -> In every windows version up to win 10 you may press the key combination [Win-logo]+[R] to bring up the "run" window for steps a.

Temporary Key has Expired

This was a problem with the US Aspyr version of SotP. Aspyr are no longer distributing the game but if anyone still has this problem then this thread should still be good for the solution.

Problems Installing

Try copying the entire contents of the disc onto your hard drive and launching the installation from there.

It is generally adviseable to quit other applications before installing anything new but if you haven't then, in particular, you might also try switching off your antivirus software and firewall before attempting to install (for more info see thread I'm linking just below).

Missing CD Key

It is a complete waste of your time to post here asking for a CD Key because no one here can help with that. Only the distributor of the game in your area can help so contact them directly. How to contact them is usually listed in your game manual - they will be the company involved that isn't JoWood (producer) or Phenomic (developer).

Health and Mana Bars not Visible when running the game in Windows Vista

Updating your video driver should resolve the problem. Alternatively, Vigilantus' post here may help.

Cannot Pass Through Locked Gates

There was a bug which occured on some copies of the gold edition released in Scandinavian countries. Kubi's workaround, noted here, should resolve it.

You will need start this fix prior to appling patch 1.52a so if you've already got that patch then you need to reinstall the game. Also, you need to start a fresh game.

Missing sound effects

Advice in this thread may help.
